...and one more for the road.

Show season is looming.
Less than 2 weeks until the first big one of the season!
(Oct.11th - 14th ... details to follow.)
I apologize for the infrequent posts, but we've been working.
Hard.
So, in the meantime, thought I'd give a teaser of one of the latest.
A new, large, heavily distressed fireplace mantel. About 70.5" x 55" x 8".
One of many, many new things coming with us on the road.
Hope to see you.

Pharmacy cupboard

Since I'm getting so much flack about not posting new work,
a small glazed pharmacy cupboard in dark, warm grey.
So there.

Seriously though, I do have a LOT in the works, and will be posting that soon.

16th Century Italian studded wrought iron chest

... or, my slightly lighter version of one.
Wood and mixed materials, "aged black iron" paint finish and carved detail.
3 adjustable interior shelves and lower "hidden" compartment.
Approx. H60.5" x W32.5" x D21"

Local sale or pick-up only.

Mora Clock

Sold.

I just finished this clock yesterday, and since our first show of the season starts tomorrow, I thought I'd give a quick preview.
About 79 inches tall, made from new pine with a heavily distressed white over grey paint finish. Convex glass, hand-painted face and quartz movement.
All handmade moldings, and 3 interior shelves.

Though technically not a Mora clock, I had seen the original on a Swedish blog and fell in love with it.
(Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the blog, so if anyone recognizes it please let me know.)
Update... Found it. It was lillevildand.blogspot.it ...check it out, here.

Hope to see some of you at the show this weekend.

Blue/gray stepback

Sold
My reproduction of a simple primitive-form pine stepback in heavily distressed and layered blue/gray paint.

Franken-cupboard

sold
This cupboard - or dish dresser- doesn't really have a particular vernacular, since I made it up of parts from several different pieces from different cupboards that I have seen. Part Irish, American, Scottish, and French Canadian and some parts from my head. Though I liked the look of a bank of small spice drawers (typically a Scottish feature) I also know that small drawers can have limited use. For that reason, it is actually 3 drawers, with false fronts to make it appear as if it has 6 smaller ones.
(The paint is actually faded black, but because I had to photograph it outside, the reflected light in the photo makes it appear greenish.) Pine, Hand beaded back boards, raised panel mortise&tenon door, aged H-hinges and square nails, 2 interior shelves in lower case.

Screened piesafe

I first saw the original of this screened piesafe at an antiques show as it was being sold. I loved the simple form, size and grubby, worn ivory colour, and since I was too late to buy it decided to do a reproduction.
In hindsight, it should have been photographed with contents inside to show the transparency of the screen panels. Like the original, the sides extend below the case to form the legs, with bootjack cut-outs at the feet. Three interior shelves in alignment with the rails (horizontals) of the door panels. Dark aged, stained and waxed interior. Screen in panels is old, dark and rusty but clean.
Please email for detail photos. H62.75" x W38.25" x D13.25". Click photo to enlarge.  SOLD

Blue piesafe

sold
Reproduction piesafe in layered dark blues over mustard. 12 punched tin panels, 1 drawer, 3 interior shelves. H59" x W38" x D16"

Feedsack footstool

Sold
Top view
Footstool made of carved and stained pine, and covered in heavy, soft cotton twill that I dyed, lettered, and patched to resemble an antique European feedsack/grainsack. Attached with old upholstery tacks. L18.5" x W11.5" x 11.5" high.

Chester county spice cupboard

Shoefoot bench table

shown with top raised as a bench
My reproduction of an early 1800's shoefoot bench table. Top is 65" x 35" x 29.75" high. When 2 of the pegs are removed the top pivots up to form the back of the bench, with a seat height of 17.5". Click pictures to enlarge.
