What's important

Just saw this video for the first time today...thanks to Pierre Raby for the link. It was a much needed reminder of what's real and most important to me, and took a huge weight off my shoulders.
Check it out.

Apothecary bottles and labels

Some of the apothecary bottles and jars I've been working on lately. I'm hoping to take some better photos of them once I get my new camera, but for now I had to get them packed up before they met with disaster. (Seems every shelf and flat space in the studio had a bottle on it.) So for now, here are a few pre-photos.
Many more coming.

Caught up in some busy day

Out of necessity, I have been trying to exercise more discipline lately. To those of you patiently waiting for a response to an email, or pictures of finished projects...I promise, they are coming soon! I have been avoiding my computer as much as possible in order to avoid distraction, to try to get a foothold on the growing heap of projects that still need tweaking. But today when I saw that a blog called Caught up in some busy day had reblogged one of my photos...how could I resist a name like that?
So I peeked, and my weakness was rewarded with some great photos. And since I haven't posted anything new for awhile I thought I'd share some of them. Now back to work!

Figures update

Just wanted to let those of you know who wanted a figure last year after they had sold out...I have done a few more of these ones, but they will only be available at the show.  I am also working on new ones for this year that we will have at Ball's Falls Oct. 7th-10th, and they will be available on a first come-first served basis. I apologise, we have a full schedule from now until late November, and just aren't able to take any more orders until then. We hope to see you at the show.
Update: Sold out. Thanks.

Paris Road Antiques

Our friends Steve and Michelle Kopp of Paris Road Antiques are having their annual antiques yard sale this weekend. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, they have the shop filled to the rafters with great antiques, along with several vendors set up both in front and back of the shop. Lots of great early paint and primitives...

...this amazing table that I would have killed for...

...cupboards, early local salt-glazed pottery, stoneware, glass...

...trunks, boxes, old tools, architectural salvage...

...and lots more, including this great taxidermy red-tailed hawk that I would have loved to bring home.

If you're anywhere near the Paris area, it's well worth your time to check it out. (Tell Michelle I sent you!)
Have a good weekend....we're off to pick apples.

Fall coming quickly

Fall and 3 Gnossiennes

The Bohemian portrait of Erik Satie

A friend sent me Ciccolini's version of Erik Satie's 3 Gnossiennes a while ago. I like the pace of it much better than most versions I've heard, but I haven't had much of a chance to listen to it. So today I put it in while I was working...painting by the window with the (finally) much cooler air coming in, flocks of geese flying over, squirrels dropping walnuts from the tree... It just seemed to fit the day.
At the top, 'The Bohemian portrait of Erik Satie' by Santiago Rusinol, mainly because I love the room.  Can't wait for Fall!
Update Mar. 20,2012...I just noticed that the video I had posted has been removed from YouTube. Since I can't find a replacement, I have substituted it with this version.
